About
Nina Halvorsen
Editor of this site.
Nina Halvorsen is the pen name of the writer and editor responsible for this site. Everything published here is written or edited under that name.
This is a pen name, not a claimed expert. No professional qualification is claimed on this site, and none should be inferred. There is no dietitian, nutritionist or physician behind the byline. What there is: a person who reads the primary literature carefully, cites it precisely, and says plainly when the evidence does not support a claim.
How pages here get written
Every health claim is traced to primary literature and cited by its PubMed or PMC identifier. Those identifiers are checked automatically to confirm they still resolve, and the check runs against the whole site rather than page by page.
Each page states what kind of study a finding rests on. A result in cultured cells, a result in mice and a result in people are three different things, and this subject suffers particularly badly from all three being reported in the same voice. Where no adequate human trial exists, the page says so instead of substituting laboratory work.
Measured quantities carry the assay method that produced them. Published sulforaphane figures vary by more than an order of magnitude depending on how the measurement was made, so a number without its method is not usable and does not appear here.
Corrections
If something here is wrong it should be fixed, and corrections are made on the page itself with the modified date updated rather than edited away quietly. More on the about page.
